The MacGregor Group is a subsidiary of Cargotec Corporation and provides integrated cargo and load handling services for maritime transportation and various offshore industries. Only one year later, the company merged with the Swedish crane specialty company Hagglunds Marine. However, in 1998, the majority of the company was sold to Industri Kapital. Cargotec acquired MacGregor in 2005 with the plan to further expand the company’s cargo handling.

The company began its foray into the oil and gas business through recent acquisitions in the early twenty-first century of companies which specialize in offshore and subsea load handling. The company now has a strong focus in Asia, although maintains strong operations in the United States. The company offers products such as hydramarine cranes and subsea load-handling solutions to offshore vessels and oil rigs. Many of the equipment and products the company produces are aimed at ensuring the safety of offshore workers and coming into compliance with new strict regulatory standards, stemming from the Deepwater Horizon tragic accident.
